It's the comedy club for dogs

A new comedy club is being set up specifically for stand-up fans who want to bring their dogs.

And many of the acts will also be bringing their canine companions on to the stage, including headliner Tony Law with his dog Wulfie.

Organiser and compere Simon Caine, who will bring his pet Poppy, said he got the idea from performing comedy in outdoor festivals.

He told Chortle: 'I've done half a dozen shows in the last 18 months at festivals where someone has brought a dog and it has only improved the gig or given me something to bounce off of.

'They now have comedy nights where you can bring your baby. A lot of people consider their dogs their baby... and the last thing you want is to leave your doggo at home along for too long.'

The first gig – entitled, inevitably, Barking Mad Comedy – is at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London from 6pm to 8pm on October 12.

Also performing are Joe Jacobs, Edy Hurst, Lulu Popplewell,  Angus Dunican and Katie Pritchard

Tickets cost £10 for humans, £5 for pups – with proceeds going to Battersea Dogs' Home
