Police nab their Ross Geller lookalike
Police hunting for a David Schwimmer lookalike have found their man.
Blackpool detectives were overwhelmed with wisecracks from internet wags after posting a CCTV image of a man wanted in connection with a restaurant theft that bore an uncanny resemblance to the Friends actor.
The viral clip even prompted the star to post a witty response, insisting it wasn’t him.
Lancashire police now say man was arrested in West London, on Monday night.
In a statement posted on Facebook, they said: ‘Following the appeal we posted looking for a man who resembles a well-known actor from the popular sitcom 'Friends', we now have an update.
‘Thanks to our colleagues [at the] Metropolitan Police Service, a 36-year-old man was arrested in Southall on suspicion of theft.’
‘We would like to thank you all for the huge response we received and a special thanks to David Schwimmer for seeing the funny side of our appeal!’
After the original appeal went viral, the force even got in on the gag, with a jokey reference to t the Friends theme tune. They posted: ‘We have confirmed that David Schwimmer was in America on this date. We're so sorry it has to be this way.’
