Porn stars turn to stand-up

...but which disappoints their parents more?

comedyEverybody’s a comedian… and that includes porn stars, too.

In fact, so many adult film performers are turning to stand-up that a new night has been set up in the States to showcase them.

Porn Stars Are Comedians will feature sets from X-rated stars Kimmie Kaboom, Kelli Provocateur (pictured) and Brooklyn Chase, who will be losing her stand-up virginity.

The show is a spinoff of the podcast Porn Stars Are People, which aims talk to those in the adult film industry without asking probing sexual questions.

Host Dan Frigolette, himself a comedian, said such interviews are demeaning.

’Sex workers in interviews are often asked one-sided and explicit questions which don’t take into consideration the human being involved,’ he said.

‘Porn Stars Are People aims to conduct interviews that focus on the person behind the body of work. It’s the first step to respecting an individual associated with an industry that is perceived to be exploitive and dangerous.’

The gig takes place in the New Jersey town of Garwood on November 4, the same weekend as the Exxxotica adult entertainment event takes place in the nearby town of Eddison, featuring more than 1,000 performers  taking part in seminars, signings, awards and after parties.

Frigolette – who recorded his first stand-up  album at a nude party in Missouri – says that there are parallels between comedy and the adult industry, especially with regards to the careers of the performers and accusations of obscenity.
