Jim Davidson backs sext shame MP

'A bloody good bloke' gone

comedyJim Davidson has backed the MP who quit his Ministerial job in a sexting scandal

Andrew Griffith bombarded two female constituents with 2,000 explicit messages asking for naked photos and suggesting they rent a flat so they could meet for sex.

The 47-year-old married father of one, who once worked as Theresa May’s chief of staff, referred to himself as ‘Daddy’ in the messages to  bar worker Imogen Treharne, 28, and one of her friends.

But Davidson immediately slammed the younger woman, blasting her as a ‘bimbo’ destined for Love Island.

And he said Griffin was  ‘a bloody good bloke’ and ‘a great minister’.

Griffin quit as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Small Business after being exposed by the Sunday Mirror this weekend and begged for forgiveness from voters.

And in a wonderful bit of double speak he said that sending the messages ‘no way represent my actions’.

‘The messages were written during a period of great personal pressure and in no way represent my views or actions,’ he said.

Davidson knew the MP through the Burton Addiction Centre in Griffin’s Derbyshire constituency. The comic work swith the Care After Combat charity which helps veterans with alcohol and substance misuse problems.

He is staging a major fundraising gig for the charity alongside Jethro, Bobby Davro, Mick Miller and Mike Osman, at the Eventim Apollo on December 10. Tickets are available here.
