Dylan Moran: I'm off the booze
He became known as the alcohol-sodden Bernard Black, and rarely appears on stage without a glass of wine to enhance his indifferent persona.
But now, it seems, Dylan Moran is off the booze. And although it has helped him lose weight, the comedian confessed he doesn’t like the way sobriety left him alone with this thoughts.
He revealed that he was 'having a holiday from booze’ when he appeared on Conan O’Brien’s TBS talk show in the States this week.
‘I did dry January…and I lost 485lbs,’ he joked. ‘So I thought might see what happened in February.’
He said the traditional booze-free month was ‘not a healthy lifestyle choice’ for anyone who undertook it, explaining: ‘People do it because they think they are about to die. They do it against their will.’
And asked if he could get more done without the influence of alcohol, 48-year-old Moran said: ‘There’s certainly more I can experience because days are so incredibly long! 385,000 hours in a day without alcohol…
‘It’s great if you’re a fan of you, of yourself, because you get to have a lot more uninterrupted time with your own consciousness. But I found that gets a bit wearisome after about hour 389.
‘But that maybe explains why Trump’s teetotal. There’s a guy that loves him[self]. He wants to spend more time with Donald. He wants a concentrated experience of pure Trumpocity. He doesn’t want to mess it up with any booze.’
