Comic sells Ovingdean Grange in Brighton

comedySteve Coogan has turned a reported £800,000 profit on his Brighton manor house.

The Alan Partridge star has sold the seven-bedroom Ovingdean Grange in Brighton, seven months after putting it on the market for £3.25million.

He bought it for £2.45million in 2011 and recently applied to install a swimming pool – but was turned down by the council following objections from neighbours.

The Grade II listed manor house does include a billiards and cinema room, three reception rooms, marble fireplaces and sprawling gardens. Snoop around on the website of estate agent Hamptons here.

Ovingdean Grange is one of the oldest homes  in Brighton,  even giving its name to a 19th Century novel, about how the future King Charles II hiding in a chimney overnight before escaping to France in 1651.
