Garth Marenghi's lab coat fetches £900
The auction of Dr Rick Dagless's lab coat from Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace has raised almost £1,000 for victims of Grenfell Tower.
It was one of two of the coats e specially made for series creator Holness to wear in his guise as the schlocky horror writer’s TV alter-ego. The lot also included a name badge from Darkplace Hospital, as worn by the doctor.
Bidding closed on the the Authors For Grenfell Tower website last night, after reaching £900.
Meanwhile, a signed limited edition graphic novel of Tim Minchin’s beat poem Storm fetched £1,850.
Organisers said more than £150,000 had been pledged in total.
Other items included a Count Arthur Strong script signed by Graham Linehan, which made £350; a signed copy of How Not To Be a Boy by Robert Webb which fetched £150 and
A bid of £32,400 meant that a character in Philip Pullman’s next book will be named after a teenager feared dead in the inferno
Money raised will go to the British Red Cross London Fire Relief Fund
