Pls Like star Jon Pointing picks his favourite comedy moments

Pls Like returns to BBC Three this weekend, the mockumentary in which Liam Williams tries to understand the world of online influencers, such as YouTuber Charlie South – as played by Jon Pointing. Here the comedy actor, also known for his work in Plebs, picks his Perfect Playlist of comedy favourites.

Three Miles North of Molkom

I think a section from this film went viral but it's worth watching it in its entirety. It’s like Anvil or that Bros documentary where the people just have a massive blind spot between how they see themselves and how the rest of the world does.

I love it when people commit to a group or gang so intensely that normal life or the human experience becomes absurd and funny. If someone’s going through a break-up or has to do the weekly shop it’s funnier if they’re in a kind of costume and live their life by a set of strict rules.

BBC documentary Hells Angels - London 1973

This is another one that could be a Christopher Guest film. All the horror of what these people try to represent is undermined by their ineptness.

In their heads they are these monsters from the underworld, in reality they're getting off their heads in an abandoned barge in the rain. The narration on this is also perfectly pitched, that clipped BBC English just makes it all the more brilliant.

A particular highlight being: ‘Around midday John's best friend Nick wanders in on day release from the mental hospital.’

American Juggalo

Mainly for the guy at 19.01 whose three seconds on camera has become legendary to me and my friend, he never fails to make us laugh but the whole film is worth a watch. Whoop whoooooooop!

Weatherman Burps

Does what it says on the tin.

Louis Theroux Weird Weekends: Looking For A Thai Bride

There are so many great characters and moments of comedy in the Louis Theroux back catalogue, off-Broadway has some gold, the infomercials episode, but being introduced to Lake Palmer has to be number one.

Buster Keaton Stops A Train

In the documentary Buster Keaton: A Hard Act To Follow there's this bit where he stops a train before sending it on its way and it's always stuck with me. So if you ever want to impress someone at a train station I recommend trying it.

• The next series of Pls Like will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer from Sunday
