Smoggie Queens wins a regional RTS award

And creator Phil Dunning named best newcomer

Smoggie Queens was named best comedy at a regional Royal Television Society Awards ceremony last night.

The Teesside-based series about drag queens – made by Hat Trick Productions – was honoured at a ceremony for shows originating in North East England and the Scottish border region.

Phil Dunning, the writer and star of the comedy, was named best newcomer at the ceremony.

Comedian and writer Jason Cook hosted the event in Gateshead.
