Sophie Duker to host the Rose d’Or awards
Sophie Duker is to host this year’s prestigious Rose d’Or international TV awards, it has been announced.
The Taskmaster champ and panel show regular will be overseeing the ceremony at King’s Place, London, on December 2.
She said: 'As a huge fan of both excellence in international programming and free champagne, hosting the Rose d’Or Awards is a dream come true.
‘I can’t wait to see what other parts of the dream come true – will my teeth fall out? Will my dress fall off? Will I become briefly fluent in Spanish? Va a ser una noche inolvidable!’
She follows in the footsteps of Alex Horne, Lenny Heny and Sue Perkins, all of whom have hosted the awards in recent years'
The European Broadcasting Union, which organises the awards, have today opened entries, which have a closing date of September 23.
Jean Philip De Tender, deputy director general of the EBU said: 'For over 60 years, the Rose d’Or Awards have celebrated the finest broadcast programming and they never stand still – there is always innovation, always a broad variety of talent, and the bar just gets higher year on year.
'The awards are also unique because, as well as being a celebration of achievement and talent, they also offer creatives a global platform for exchanging ideas. I’m looking forward to seeing what the world’s best have delivered this year. I know I won’t be disappointed.'
