London comedy club doubles its programming

With Edinburgh previews and two new line-up shows every week

London’s West End Comedy Club announced it is doubling the number of shows it stages.

The gig, at the Covent Garden Social Club, has been running on Tuesday and Wednesday nights since last August. Now it is adding Edinburgh previews on Mondays plus an early and late show on Thursdays from March 24.

Those lined up to preview their Fringe show include Rosie Jones, pictured, Angela Barnes, Tom Ward and Seann Walsh.

Promoter Liam Pape said: ‘With the cancellation of events like Vaults Festival where lots of acts had warm-ups and work in progress planned, we wanted to provide an alternate central London venue where comedians could prepare for Edinburgh or their own tours.

‘And once preview season is over, we're looking forward to programming some exciting new show formats on a Monday night in the second half of the year.’

Show manager Matthew Currey added: ‘Over our short time, we’ve covered a lot of ground. Shows comprise of circuit veteran and up and upcoming talent so audiences have seen a little of everything over the past seven months.

‘ Comedians have also seen a bit of everything... as audiences I’ve seen have included an eclectic mix of Netflix producers, YouTube influences and even the occasional dominatrix.

‘Interesting to see that we also seem to be a very popular location for second dates – to the thrill of our MCs.’
