LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year competition is back

Entries now open

Entries have opened for the Comedy Bloomers LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year competition 2022.

Prizes include a solo show filmed and streamed on Next Up Comedy, which will also be broadcasting the competition final.

Organiser Chris Smith said he was thrilled to be bringing the competition back after two years, saying: ‘We are seeing a lot of new comedy talents on the circuit who will have the chance to compete'.

Previous winner Charlie George, pictured, said the  contest was ‘a warm, fun, well run competition to be part of’, adding: ‘It was amazing to get live feedback from pro comics and it has helped develop my confidence no end. It has definitely helped my career to gain more gigs on the circuit and I have been signed by Chambers Management since.’

The deadline for applications is 14 February and aspiring comedians can apply here.

Heats will be held in the Seven Dials Club in Central London on March 16, 30 and April 13 and 27; at Tribeca in Manchester on April 10 and Edinburgh’s CC Blooms  on April 20.
