Sanjeev Bhaskar and Asim Chaudhry join Netflix's The Sandman

Adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s comic book series

Sanjeev Bhaskar and People Just Do Nothing star Asim Chaudhry have been cast in new Netflix drama The Sandman.

They play Cain and Abel, ‘the first victim and the first predator’ in the series based on Neil Gaiman’s DC comic book series.

Set in the Dream Realm, the dark fantasy series blends contemporary fiction, historical drama and legend.

Tom Sturridge has been cast Dream, Lord of the Dreaming, with  Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, Ruler of Hell and Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, chief librarian and Trusted Guardian of Dream’s  Realm.

Also joining the ensemble is  Boyd Holbrook as The Corinthian, ‘an escaped nightmare who wishes to taste all that the world has in store’ and Charles Dance as  Roderick Burgess, a charlatan, blackmailer and magician

Gaiman said: ‘For the last 33 years, the Sandman characters have breathed and walked around and talked in my head. I'm unbelievably happy that now, finally, they get to step out of my head and into reality.

‘I can't wait until the people out there get to see what we've been seeing as Dream and the rest of them take flesh, and the flesh belongs to some of the finest actors out there. This is astonishing.
