Now Seinfeld becomes a tourist attraction
A new Seinfeld ‘experience’ is to open in New York later this year.
The attraction will feature interactive exhibits designed to bring the sitcom to life, with displays of costumes, memorabilia, set recreations, and props from the show.
A similar Instagram-friendly exhibit based around Friends has previously toured the UK.
The new ‘immersive’ experience has been announced as the sitcom marks its 30th anniversary, with the first episode airing on NBC on July 5, 1989.
Jonathan Mayers, co-founder of Superfly. the company staging the attraction, said: ‘We're thrilled to bring The Seinfeld Experience to life in an innovative way, combining nostalgia with immersive entertainment, and getting fans closer than ever before to the show and its beloved characters.
‘A show as iconic as Seinfeld should be celebrated with an experience that truly matches its legacy and enduring influence.’
Jerry Seinfeld himself added: ‘Because I am Seinfeld, for a long time I was the only person to actually have the Seinfeld experience.
‘Now, these crazy Superfly people are going to make it so lots of people can interact with our silly 1990s TV show.
‘All I can say is, in the general context of the world we live in, this now seems completely normal.’
There are already several Seinfeld-inspired tours of New York, including one led by Kenny Kramer – the man who inspired the character of Jerry's neuighbour.
The news comes as Lego plan a possible Seinfeld kit to mark the 30th anniversary.
