Musical to tour the UK

Elaine C Smith has joined the cast of Kay Mellor's Fat Friends – The Musical.

 The Two Doors Down and Rab C Nesbitt star will share the role of Betty with Sam Bailey, who won The X Factor in 2013, as the show tours the UK.

Jodie Prenger had already been announced as being part of the cast.

Fat Friends ran on ITV for five years from 2000 and starred Alison Steadman and Sheridan Smith – and creator  Mellor has adapted it for the stage with composer Nicholas Lloyd Webber.

The show opens in Leeds on November 7, before touring to the UK through to June 2018.
