'Africa's funniest Jew' announces UK dates
South African comic Nik Rabinowitz– who calls himself Africa's funniest Jew – has announced three London dates.
He previously visited the UK in 2010, when he made an appearance on Mock The Week and appeared in a South African comedy showcase at the Albert Hall, which also featured Trevor Noah.
Since then he has become a father and turned 40, the inspiration for his latest one-man show Fortyfied – as well as winning a gold medal as part of the South African cricket team at the 2013 Maccabi Games, dubbed the Jewish Olympics.
As well as touring internationally, Rabinowitz hosts topical show That Week That Wasn't on South African radio.
He was born on a farm in the wine-growing district of Constantia, Cape Town, prompting him to joke that he was one of only two Jewish boys in the last 2,000 years to have been born in a stable. Rabinowitz learned to speak Xhosa as a child, and said he has succeed in comedy despite a comfortable and supportive upbringing.
Fortyfied will be performed at Leicester Square Theatre on November 30, December 3 and 5.
