Billy Crystal to play a washed-up composer

In a comedy directed by Barry Levinson

Billy Crystal is to star in a new comedy movie about a down-on-his luck Broadway composer.

In Revivial, he plays the lead character, now reduced to  composing jingles to earn a crust and to keep his old, incontinent dog alive.

But when he discovers that a high school is staging his most famous musical, he becomes obsessed with shutting it down.

It is written by Phil Primason, who also penned last year’s 5 Doctors, about a comedian who seeks multiple medical opinions for his peculiar symptoms.

Hollywood website Deadline reports that veteran director Barry Levinson will helm the movie. It adds that no studio is yet attached, but with that star-director combo ‘it probably will be snatched up in a hurry’.
