Jimmy Carr show 'axed after one series'

The Jimmy Carr-fronted comedy format  Battle In The Box will not be returning to  U&Dave, it has been reported.

The show, which launched last summer, placed two pairs of comedians in a box with a moveable wall, with the teams battling it out for floor space over a series of games.

Those taking part in the first series were Joe Swash, Seann Walsh, Harriet Kemsley, Lara Ricote, Katherine Ryan, Tom Rosenthal, Fatiha El-Ghorri, Josh Jones, Guz Khan, Rachel Parris, Amy Gledhill, Josh Pugh, Ellie Taylor,Jess Knappett,  Jamie Laing and Nabil Abdulrashid.

But The Sun quotes an unnamed source as saying: ‘Battle In The Box is being rested and no more series are planned for now.’

The show was slated by The Guardian’s critic Joel Golby, who said: ‘Kids’ birthday parties have better games than Jimmy Carr’s tedious new show.’

UKTV declined to comment on The Sun's report.
