Jamie Demetriou cast in Charli XCX film
...as Stath Lets Flats comes to Netflix
Jamie Demetriou has joined the cast of Charli XCX's music mockumentary The Moment.
The film – from acclaimed production house A24 – is reportedly about the life of a pop star in the build-up to her first headline arena tour.
Details of Demetriou’s role have not been released but his involvement was reported by industry website Screen Daily.
The cast also includes Alexander Skarsgard, Rosanna Arquette ( as a record label boss) and American comedian Kate Berlant.
The Moment is said to offer ‘an inside look at the inner workings of the music industry and explores how subculture is mutated by commercial success’.
It is the first feature film to be directed by Glaswegian Aidan Zamirim, who has previously shot music videos for Charli XCX. He co-wrote the script with Bertie Brandes, former fashion editor of Vice magazine.
The news comes as all three series of Demetriou’s cult Channel 4 sitcom Stath Lets Flats prepares to launch on Netflix on Saturday. The streamer already hosts his innovative 2023 sketch show A Whole Lifetime With Jamie Demetriou.
He will soon be seen in Noah Baumbach's upcoming coming-of-age comedy-drama Jay Kelly, which stars George Clooney and Adam Sandler.
