BBC's Imagine to profile Armando Iannucci
Contributors include Chris Morris, Steve Coogan and Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Armando Iannucci is to be profiled by the BBC’s prestigious arts series Imagine
The influential comedy showrunner has been interviewed by Alan Yentob for the programme, which will air on BBC One in the first week of March.
It will feature contributions from collaborators, including Chris Morris, Steve Coogan, Michael Palin, Rebecca Front, Chris Addison, Jesse Armstrong, Peter Capaldi and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
The film will be subtitled The Academy of Armando, a phase The Thick Of It star turned director Addison has previously used to describe those whose careers have benefited from working with Iannucci.
He started with Radio 4’s On The Hour, which spawned The Day Today, before moving on to The Thick Of It and Veep and films The Death Of Stalin and The Personal History Of David Copperfield.
The BBC says the Imagine programme ‘delves into this rich and illustrious career and will explore the life experiences and inspirations behind it’.
The one-hour film also includes Iannucci at work on the set of his HBO comedy Avenue 5, and the screening of The Death Of Stalin at the Sundance Film Festival and will discuss Iannucci's epic poem turned play Pandemonium about Boris Johnson’s conduct during the Covid pandemic.
