Comic wins a bursary to help make his Edinburgh Fringe debut

Vinny Shiu has been selected as the next Chortle Hotshot of 2025 following a showcase at London’s Hot Water comedy club last night.

The stand-up was a finalist in the  British Comedian Of The Year competition last year, and  is heading to the Edinburgh Fringe this year with  Asian Or British?, a show about struggling with identity growing up in the UK with an Asian face.

He will get his Fringe registration fee paid and a package of advertising and other help, alongside the previously announced recipients Dean Coughlin and Alex Stringer.

The next showcase takes place at the Glee Club in Birmingham next Wednesday, February 19 compered by Barbara Nice and featuring Tim Biglowe, Adam Hopkins, Becky Umbers, Daniel McKeon, Aiden Lonergan, Hasan Al-Habib, Kayleigh Jones, Liam Tuley, Molly Mole and  Katherine Kenway.
