Nigeria's Mr Dolor plans 50-hour solo show

A Nigerian comedian is hoping to set a new world record for the longest non-stop comedy show.

Mr Dolor - the stage name of Dolor Kevwe Obarkere –  is planning a 50-hour marathon later this month.

The Guinness World Record for the longest stand-up comedy performance by an individual is held by American comic David Scott. Going by the name The Midnight Swinger, he performed for 40 hours and 8 minutes at the  Diamond Jo Casino in Iowa in April 2013.

Mr Dolor’s attempt takes place at Pepperoni Fast Food in the Ajah district of Lagos from February 27 to March 1 and he said he'd be using the stunt to sell himself for a tour starting soon afterwards.

Speaking to Nigeria's TVC News, below, he said:  'Lots of comedians are doing the same thing and as creative as you are you have to bring your own pattern and felt the way to sell myself is to create this niche for myself.'

He said he was doing fitness training and endurance walks to prepare for the marathon – and that the longest show he'd previously performed lasted four hours.

'I'm actually a freestyle comedian, I'm a spontaneous comedian, you tell me anything I can use it to crack joke, so I'm going to be touching every area: politics, marriage... A lot of things to talk about.;

The longest continuous stand-up comedy show by multiple comedians lasted 80 hours 5 minutes and was achieved  in Nashville, Tennessee in April 2015.
