New Radio 4 series for Laura Smyth

All about motherhood

Laura Smyth is making a new Radio 4 series about motherhood.

The series - entitled Your Mum –  will be recorded over three nights later this month at Up the Creek comedy club in Greenwich.

It follows her 2023 Radio 4  special I Don’t Know What To Say, about her  experiences with breast cancer, which went on to the gold prize in the comedy category at the Arias, the leading audio awards.

The description of the new show reads: ‘Whether we like it or not, our mums loom large in our life and shape who we are. Was your mum over-protective, under-protective, hypercritical, a shoulder to cry on, domineering, unpredictable, totally absent… actually your grandma?!

‘Laura is ready to apply her straight-talking, disarming and infectious comedic style to the experiences of both having and being a mother.

‘Joined by a host of celebrity guests ready to share funny stories, shocking anecdotes and embarrassing memories, Laura will be taking a deep dive into motherhood and asking what (if anything) our folks have taught us.’

Free tickets to the recordings on February 24, 25 and 25 are available from Standing Room Only.
