Glasgow comedy festival to remember Janey Godley
The Glasgow International Comedy Festival has announced a tribute show for Janey Godley.
The event will feature a screening of the documentary about her followed by a stand-up show featuring some of the late comic’s comedy friends including Elaine C Smith, Susie McCabe, Scott Agnew, Rosco McLelland and Tom Urie.
Proceeds from the show, at King’s Theatre on March 23, will be split between two Glasgow charities: Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre and The Prince and Princes of Wales Hospice.
Festival director Krista MacDonald said: ’It’s a great privilege to be able to stage this event in memory of Janey for the benefit of two such vital Glasgow charities.
‘With the help of Hopscotch Films and some of our best talent we’ll come together and celebrate Janey’s life and work, share some memories, laughs and, no doubt, tears, and - as Janey always did - contribute everything we can to those in need of help..
Godley, who died in November at the age of 63, won the first Sir Billy Connolly Spirit of Glasgow Award handed out by the festival in 2023.
