Hacks comes to Sky TV

Acclaimed US comedy about a Vegas stand-up reinventing her ageing act

Highly acclaimed US comedy Hacks is coming to British TV.

Sky has snapped up the rights to the show about fictional Las Vegas comedian Deborah Vance, played by Jean Smart, who is forced to reinvent her ageing act.

Hannah Einbinder plays Ava Daniels, a comedy writer rendered unemployable after an ill-advised tweet, who is employed to punch up Vance’s set.

The cast also includes comic Megan Stalter, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’s Kaitlin Olson, and Curb Your Enthusiasm’s Susie Essman.

The first two seasons are available on Prime Video, but this is the first time British audiences will be able to see the third, which aired in the US last year. A fourth series has been commissioned.

A raft of stand-ups have also appeared in the show as themselves, including Andy Kindler, Patton Oswalt, Natasha Leggero and Carrot Top.

Hacks has won nine Emmy awards, including outstanding comedy series twice, and three for Smart in her leading role.

The full series will be accessible via Sky On Demand and streaming service Now from Friday, February 7 and will start airing on Sky Max at 9pm on the same day, with a double bill of the first two episodes.
