Russell Howard abandons publicity tour amid LA wildfires
Russell Howard has had to abandon some of his work publicising his new stand-up special because of the Californian wildfires.
The comic was due to appear on the CBS talk show After Midnight with Taylor Tomlinson tonight, but the taping has been cancelled because of the devastating wildfires in the Los Angeles area.
Several entertainment events have been axed today because of the fires, including the announcement of the Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations and the premiers of the Robbie Williams biopic Better Man, and Jennifer Lopez's Unstoppable movie.
A state of emergency has been declared with around 1,000 ‘structures’ destroyed and at least two people losing their lives in four separate outbreaks covering more than 5,000 acres. Authorities warned there was ‘no possibility’ of bringing some of the flames under control until winds subside.
Howard’s agent Avalon say that because of the situation, the comedian has cancelled the remainder of his press tour in LA and is flying to New York within the next few hours.
He was due to appear on After Midnight – the show that succeeded The Late Late Show with James Corden – to plug his Live At The London Palladium show, which will be streaming on the Driift platform from next week.
