Leigh Francis to release Christmas Pigs single
Keith Lemon creator Leigh Francis is to release a festive single featuring a raft of guests stars including Paddy McGuinness and Liv Tyler.
The comic admits that Christmas Pigs took him just half an hour to write on a train journey and that ‘I’m not a pop star or a musician, so I didn’t really care about the quality’.
But he hopes people will buy the single anyway as it is in aid of Children With Cancer UK.
Francis previously had a No 4 hit with Proper Crimbo in 2003, which also featured a raft of guest stars including Jimmy Carr, Simon Amstell, Mel B, Chris Moyles and Kerry Katona.
The line-up for Christmas Pigs also includes Paloma Faith, Louise Redknapp, Gremlins star Zach Galligan and an unnamed ‘massive star’, which Francis saying he will reveal the names over the coming days on his Virgin Radio show.
He told the Sun: ‘I wrote Christmas Pigs on the train in about 30 minutes. Then I texted everyone I knew, asking if they could sing a few lines from the song or a line from the chorus, and then we put it all together.’
‘It’s not about chart positions. I just want people to buy the song to raise some money.
His dad died of cancer when he was 47, and two friends were recently diagnosed with the disease too.
Francis released a couple of very short snippets of the song on social media:
