SMOGGIE QUEENS: Phil Dunning created this new BBC Three comedy about a group of friends in Middlesbrough’s LGBTQ+ community, He plays Dickie, having a crisis in episode one when his boyfriend dumps him on the doorstep, and he needs the help of his chosen family: drag queen Mam (Mark Benton), self-styled hun Lucinda (Alexandra Mardell), awkward Sal (Patsy Lowe) and newcomer to the scene Stewart (Elijah Young). The series starts with a double episode and Dunning talks about it here BBC Three, 10.10pm
