...after surviving to dance another week on Strictly

Chris McCausland has added more than 100 new dates to his stand-up tour – after surviving his worst week on Strictly Come Dancing.

The comedian avoided his first Strictly dance-off last night despite having come joint bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday’s show.

He and partner Dianne Buswell scored just 26 out of 40 from judges for their Halloween samba – a dance that has been the kiss of death of several couples this series.

But as an audience favourite, he was probably in little danger of losing the viewer vote, and once those results were taken into consideration, it was down to Dr Punam Krishan and Shayne Ward

After the dance-off, judges voted to lose Dr Punam. As she bowed out, she said: ‘I am really proud of myself. I’ve taken on something that’s so out of my comfort zone. The one thing that I’ve very much learnt is to say yes more. There is no point in your life when you can stop learning new skills.’

On Saturday’s show McCausland and Buswell emerged from a graveyard to dance to Stayin Alive’ by The Bee Gees, with judge  Craig Revel Horwood concluding: 'Too much hopping, needed stretch and smoothness, shoulders raised, no hip action on the voltas but immaculate rhythm and magnificent acting.’

The comic has now made it through to the second half of the primetime BBC One show, with the exposure helping boost sales of his forthcoming Yonks! tour.

Starting on January 17, it will now run until April 2026. Tickets are on sale now.
