Radio 4 gets a taste for Rum Punch

Full series for Travis Jay’s sitcom, following a successful pulot

Radio 4 has ordered a full series of Travis Jay’s sitcom, Rum Punch.

The comic writes and stars in the show as Marley, a conflict-averse aspiring boxer who works in his parents’ Caribbean restaurant in South London.

The commission follows a pilot episode which aired in March – and still available on BBC Sounds –  with the full series is set to air next year.

Comics Eddie Nestor. Kevin J and Kevin Garry – who also has a regular role in Ted Lasso – co-starred in the pilot, although no cast has yet been confirmed for the fill series. Maureen Hibbert, Letitia Hector and musician FaceintheNews rounded out the original cast.

Jay – the son of fellow comedian Annie Le Mar – is currently on tour with his stand-up show Travisty (Travis Jay tour dates) and appears in Netflix superhero drama Supacell.

Rum Punch was ordered by Radio 4’s commissioning editor for comedy and entertainment,Julia McKenzie, and is an Avalon production.
