Tim Key joins The Office follow-up in America
Tim Key, fellow stand-up Alex Edelman and Black Ops star Gbemisola Ikumelo have joined the new US mockumentary follow-up to The Office.
In the as-yet-untitled series, the fly-on-the-wall documentary crew that charted the goings-on in Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch turn their attentions to a dying historic Midwestern newspaper, and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters
It is not yet known what roles the new cast members will play, but Ikumelo and Edelman – best known for his off-Broadway stand-up show Just for Us – will also be writers on the comedy.
Relative unknown Eric Rahill is also joining as an actor and writer, US trade press reported last night.
They join the previously announced Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Melvin Gregg, Chelsea Frei and Ramona Young
Greg Daniels, who developed the American version of The Office co-created the new series with Michael Koman. Both serve as executive producers along with Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and others.
It has been reported that the show – not strictly a spin-off from The Office but set ‘in the same universe’ – has the working title The Paper.
