Andy Hamilton reschedules tour over health issues

Comic and writer's shows had been due to start this week

Andy Hamilton has postponed his tour that was due to start this week because of ‘unexpected health issues’.

The ‘Evening With…’ shows were scheduled to kick off in Basingstoke on Wednesday, with the writer and comedian looking back at his near 50-year career in comedy.

Hamilton, 70, began in 1976 as a contributor to Radio 4’s topical show Week Ending and went on to co-write Drop The Dead Donkey and Outnumbered, as well as appear on shows such as The News Quiz and Have I Got News For You. He and his co-writer Guy Jenkin also penned and directed the film What We Did On Our Holiday.

He is also the voice of Dr Elephant, the dentist in Peppa Pig and Satan  in the Radio 4 sitcom Old Harry's Game, which he also wrote.

In a statement about his live shows, producers said: ‘Unfortunately, due to unexpected health issues, the difficult decision has been made to postpone Andy Hamilton’s upcoming tour, which was due to take place in October 2024.

‘Andy’s very grateful to everyone who’s purchased tickets for his show and looks forward to seeing you at the re-arranged date in 2025.’

Ticket holders should have been contacted by the venues about the rescheduled dates. The new dates are here.
