'It would be criminal not to revisit This Country'

Charlie Cooper raises possibility of a reunion... as he reveals he's working with sister Daisy May on a new project

Charlie Cooper says he is working on a new project with his sister Daisy May – adding that it would be ‘criminal’ not to revisit This Country at some point.

The co-creator of the hit Cotswolds comedy hosts a new BBC Three documentary, Myth Country, from next month. And in an interview with the Radio Times to promote it, he does reveal that he and his sibling are planning something new.

He told the magazine: ‘I can't talk about it too much, but it'll be an unscripted thing. It’s a good way of getting back to working together again.

‘What's nice, since This Country finished, is that now we have a relationship outside of work. She had a baby a few months ago, so we go around to hers every Sunday for a roast, and the kids play together. It's nice not having that external pressure. We're not talking about work, we're talking about stupid stuff, and I really cherish that.’

And asked if they would ever return to This Country, which aired its last episode in 2020 he said: ‘You can never say never.

‘It often crosses my mind; what Kurtan would be doing now. What would they have done during Covid? Would he be a big germaphobe now?

‘Kurtan is such a big part of me, and as I've had two kids since This Country ended, I'm always wondering what he would be like as a dad. It would be criminal not to revisit it.’
