Two nights at London's Soho Theatre

Emo Philips has announced two rare UK dates.

The American master of the absurd one-liner will be at the Soho Theatre for two nights on November 29 and 30.

He was in Britain early last year supporting ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic on his lo-fi musical tour, which came on the back of the spoof biopic starring Daniel Radcliffe – in which Philips cameoed as Salvador Dali.

Philips’s last major UK engagement before that was in 2010, when he played the Edinburgh Fringe as well as a number of other festivals, including Latitude.

Now 68, he came to prominence in the 1980s, especially via his album E=mo², recorded live at Caroline's in Manhattan, New York City in 1985.

Philips was named No 54 on Channel 4's top 100 greatest stand-ups of all-time, and Patton Oswalt has called him ‘the most brilliant joke-writer in the game’,

Any money you contribute will directly fund more reviews, interviews and features – the sort of in-depth coverage that is increasingly difficult to fund from ever-squeezed advertising income, but which we think the UK’s vibrant comedy scene deserves.
