One special has 23million viewers

Jimmy Carr’s YouTube channel has hit one million subscribers.

Launched a decade ago with a video called Hecklers Beware, the channel features stand-up clips as well as footage from his TV shows, including full episodes of 8 Out Of 10 Cats.

The most popular video is his full-length 2013 stand-up special Laughing And Joking, which has 23million views, followed by the 2011 special Being Funny, with 15million.

The channel today launches a Heckle Amnesties strand, capitalising on the popularity of crowd work videos online, with a weekly release of audience interactions shot on the road during his current Laughs Funny tour.

The Jimmy Carr YouTube channel has been operated by Banijay Rights, the distribution arm of of the production company behind  8 Out Of 10 Cats,  since last July.

Thanks for reading. If you find Chortle’s coverage of the comedy scene useful or interesting, please consider supporting us with a monthly or one-off ko-fi donation.
Any money you contribute will directly fund more reviews, interviews and features – the sort of in-depth coverage that is increasingly difficult to fund from ever-squeezed advertising income, but which we think the UK’s vibrant comedy scene deserves.
