LONDON: Live Next To The Apollo is a new up-and-coming comedy night at the Riverside Studios, just a stone's throw from the Apollo in Hammersmith, home of the BBC's long-running stand-up showcase. It's there most Tuesdays, some Fridays and even the occasional Wednesday, and tonight's features anecdotal powerhouse Desiree Burch and the personable Matt Stellingwerf alongside more emerging acts. FOLKESTONE: The town's Quarterhouse venue kicks off a new regular comedy night in style with brilliantly inspired double Edinburgh Comedy Award winner John Kearns, droll Lebanese-American comic Janine Harouni, charming Alison Spittle and cheeky Jack Barry.

BLISWORTH: A fine double bill in this Northamptonshire village with the dense wordplay of Glenn Moore and defiant self-deprecation of Jonny Pelham at the Walnut Tree Inn.
