Fawlty Towers extends its West End run

Three more months for John Cleese’s comedy

John Cleese’s Fawlty Towers has extended its West End run.

The show was originally due to run at the Apollo Theatre Shaftesbury Avenue until September 28, but has now extended until January 4.

Cleese weaved three of the scripts he originally wrote with Connie Booth into the stage version: The Hotel Inspector, The Germans and Communication Problems.

Starring Adam Jackson-Smith as Basil, it opened last month to a host of 4 and 5 star reviews (including Chortle’s).

The cast also includes Anna-Jane Casey as Sybil, Hemi Yeroham as Manuel, Victoria Fox as Polly and Paul Nicholas as The Major.

The play marks 50 years since Fawlty Towers was first recorded at BBC Television Centre in 1974, to air in September the following year.

Tickets are available here.
