Trolls hound Rosie Jones off social media
Rosie Jones has deleted her account on X after receiving another barrage of abuse.
The comic has previously said she had developed a thick skin towards Troll – however the latest wave of hatred has apparently proved too much.
Explaining her decision, she said: ‘I’ve not felt a lot of joy from this social platform in a long time, so to come on and see I'm trending, yet again, is exhausting;
‘I could say comedy is subjective but the truth is the comments are hurtful. I used to love Twitter but I don't care for this centre of hate. Goodbye.’
Much of the abuse the 33-year-old receives derives from her cerebral palsy, while other comments are homophobic.
The latest wave appears to have been prompted by a question asking people to identify ‘a comedian you don't find funny at all’ which went viral;.
Jones previously addressed the ableist abuse she received in the controversially titled Channel 4 documentary Am I A R****d?
The comedian, who worked in TV production before turning to stand-up previously said of the online abuse: ‘I’d be lying if I said it didn’t upset me, but luckily I am surrounded by such a strong network of brilliant friends, family, colleagues who support me.
‘Do I need a thick skin? Yes, I bloody do. But I’m able to switch it off, I don’t look at social media when I’m on TV and I focus on the positives.’
