Accuser has ‘faulty memory', his lawyers say

Russell Brand has denied sexually assaulting a woman on the set of his movie Arthur in 2010, saying his accuser has a ‘faulty memory’.

His lawyers claim the woman appeared to be ‘unable to distinguish acting from reality’ as she accused the comedian of  seeming drink – when he had been sober for eight years at the time.

The unnamed woman claimed Brand exposed himself in full view of the cast and crew, then later assaulted her in a bathroom as ‘a member of production crew guarded the door from outside’.

In his response filed with the court, Brand  denied those allegations and said he did not recognise the accuser’s name or photo.

Brand's lawyer says her ‘faulty memory of the events she alleged in her complaint - more than 13 years after they supposedly happened - is fatal to her claims’.

While that case continues in New York, Brand is  facing a number of other accusations of rape, sexual assaults and emotional abuse  following an expose by Channel 4 and Times newspapers.

Brand has insisted all his relationships have been consensual.
