People Person based on a segment from Richard Ayoade’s Question Team

James Acaster is developing a late-night comedy gameshow.

In People Person, the stand-up will challenge a panel of comedians to answer some probing questions about a line-up of three members of the public.

It is based on a game he played on’s Dave show Question Team in 2021.

On that show he asked his fellow comics to guess which one of his people had the biggest garden, who had the most battery life left on their phones, who had the most friends and who was the tallest, when they were hidden behind screens. And for the final question they had to guess who would bring back a chocolate bar first.

Acaster is hosting a rehearsal run-through of People Person in an East London arts centre  later this month, with free audience tickets available here.

It has not been revealed which – if any – broadcaster is attached to the show.

Any money you contribute will directly fund more reviews, interviews and features – the sort of in-depth coverage that is increasingly difficult to fund from ever-squeezed advertising income, but which we think the UK’s vibrant comedy scene deserves.
