LONDON: And you could make it a double bill with Ian Smith's Crushing, one of the best comedy shows at this year's Edinburgh Fringe. In it, he deals with - to use the term very lightly - everyday stresses with increasing comic exasperation. He, too, is at the Soho Theatre all week ahead of a UK tour next year. BIRMINGHAM: One-liner maestro Gary Delaney headlines a charity gig at the Glee club for Heart Research UK, with fine support from Josh Pugh and Andy Robinson - local comics all.
Wednesday October 4
DURHAM: Lucy Beaumont's first-ever tour, The Trouble And Strife, kicks off at the Gala Theatre today, drawing on her marriage to Jon Richardson that has already provided rich fodder for Dave’s Meet The Richardsons and Channel 4’s Jon And Lucy’s Odd Couples. DUBLIN: American comic Gabriel 'Fluffy' Iglesias's world tour hits the 3Arena tonight, before moving on to the O2 in London on Friday. Tickets for both dates are available here.
Thursday October 5
LEICESTER: Munya Chawawa, who has gone from online creator to bona fide TV and live comedy star, embarks on his first UK tour. The show promises 'sharp witted, socially relevant observations' as well as his alter-egos such as newsreader Barty Crease, TV chef Jonny Oliver and posh drill rapper Unknown P. CARLISLE: Adam Rowe kicks off a 52-date tour of his new stand-up show What’s Wrong With Me? at the Old Fire Station Arts Centre. According to the description, the Have A Word podcaster has spent a bit of time self-reflecting and he’s come to the conclusion that there’s something wrong with him, although for hypochondriac, that’s not exactly news. LONDON: Del Boy's manor gets its own comedy festival, with the Peckham Playground taking over Copeland Park from now until Sunday featuring acts such as Nish Kumar, Ed Gamble, Tim Key and Fern Brady. Full line-up and tickets
LONDON: Stewart Lee, Lou Sanders and Nabil Abdulrashid are among the big names on Jokes and Spokes, a benefit for The Bike Project, which collects second-hand bikes, refurbishes them and donates them to refugees and asylum-seekers. The line-up at the Union Chapel in Islington is rounded out by Erika Ehler, Jack Barry and Rosie Holt.
Friday October 6
MANCHESTER: The Women In Comedy Festival returns with 71 shows, mostly from up-and-coming female comics, across the next 10 days. Alexandra Haddow, Kiri Pritchard-McLean, Nina Gilligan and Kate Smurthwaite are among the more established names taking part. Website.
EDINBURGH: Marjolein Robertson, Billy Kirkwood and Joe McTernan kick off the first Leith Comedy Festival, a mini affair including laughter yoga, quizzes and walking tours over the weekend, before closing with a Sunday night show featuring Jamie MacDonald, Kathleen Hughes and Liam Withnail.
Saturday October 7
LONDON: Another big gig at the Union Chapel features Catastrophe's Rob Delaney alongside Kerry Godliman, Maisie Adam and Sharon Wanjohi.
