Monday August 28

STARSTRUCK: Rosie Matafeo's romcom returns picking up two years after the last, with the comedian's character, Jessie, bumping into her Hollywood star ex Tom (Nikesh Patel) at a wedding. She's still living in London, working at the local cinema but left questioning where life will take her as her friends move onto the next stages of their lives from marriage to parenthood. The cast also includes Emma Sidi, Joe Barnes and Minnie Driver, reprising her role as Tom’s agent Cath. A double bill is followed by the comedy film Baby Done, in which Matafeo plays an an arborist whole attempts to win a national tree-climbing competition while pregnant. BBC Three, 10pm

MIRACLE WORKERS: END TIMES: Daniel Radcliffe and Steve Buscemi return in the fourth instalment of the series as all-new characters in a dystopian future full of radioactive mutants, killer robots and a tyrannical homeowner's association with outrageous annual fees. Geraldine Viswanathan plays a ruthless warlord, Jon Bass is a war dog and Karan Soni is a kill-bot who loves to party Sky Comedy, 9pm

CARRY ON AT 65: A full day of programming on Radio 4 Extra today marks the anniversary of what would be the first in the quintessentially British film comedy series, Carry On Sergeant, in 1958. Broadcaster and Carry On biographer Wes Butters introduces a collection of archive dramas, comedies and interviews – some of which haven’t been heard since they were first aired, featuring the work of Kenneth Williams, Sid James, Barbara Windsor, Hattie Jacques, Joan Sims and Charles Hawtrey. CALL JONATHAN PIE: Having already been released as a BBC Sounds podcast, the new show from the viral angry news reporter gets a Radio 4 airing for his rants about everything from the environment and the NHS to cancel culture and the BBC itself.Radio 4, 11pm

ROMESH AND TOM TAKE TAKESHI'S CASTLE: Mssrs Ranganathan and Davis narrate as the cult Japanese physical gameshow returns. Amazon Prime Video

MY TEENAGE DIARY: Ivo Graham reveals some excruciating diary entries as the Rufus Hound-hosted series returns for an 11th series. Also to come in the series are Amy Gledhill, Michaela Strachan, Juno Dawson, Joe Stilgoe and Sophie DukerRadio 4, 6.30pm

INFLUENCERS: A new sitcom written by and starring Katy Brand and Katherine Parkinson as two wannabe influencers starts a full series, following a pilot in 2021. Radio 4, 11pm

AMBER JOLT: TRUTH HUNTER: Rosie Holt – best known for playing fake right-wing figures online – plays a spoof investigator in this new pilot, written by Dead Ringers creator Bill Dare. Here she looks into Amazon and asks 'Prime or Primeval'? Radio 4, 11pm

Friday September 1

JOE LYCETT: MORE, MORE, MORE! HOW DO YOU LYCETT? HOW DO YOU LYCETT: A primetime airing for the comic's stand-up show recorded during his tour last year. Channel 4, 9pm

WHAT’S FUNNY ABOUT…: The show that looks into the making of some of Britain's best-loved comedies returns, with Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney talking about Catastrophe with hosts on Plowman and Peter Fincham. Radio 4, 11.30am

FRIDAY NIGHT COMEDY SPECIAL: THE NAKED WEEK The sixth and final topical format piloted by Radio 4 comes from The Skewer creator Jon Holmes Host Andrew Hunter Murray will 'jeer at not only the big stories, but also at the way in which the news itself is packaged and presented', the blurb promises.
