BBC buys Colin From Accounts series two

Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyers' romcom will return

The BBC has confirmed it will be airing the second series of Colin From Accounts.

Last weekend, Chortle reported how Australian streaming service Binge has ordered new episodes of the quirky romcom, starring and created by real-life husband and wife Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer.

The comedy was a-work-of-mouth hit on BBC Two and iPlayer in April, attracting an  average audience of 2.2million per episode.

It charted the age-gap romance that developed after  Dyer’s character Ashley flashes at Brammall’s Gordon in the street, causing him to run over a Border Terrier. They reluctantly team up to get the injured dog, who they name Colin From Accounts, to the vet.

The BBC’s head of programme acquisition, Sue Deeks, said: ‘BBC viewers have been completely charmed by this award-winning romantic comedy, and have taken Ashley, Gordon and unlikely cupid Colin to their hearts.

‘We are so delighted that there is going to be another series of the totally engaging Colin From Accounts for us all to enjoy.’

Colin From Accounts swept the board at the biggest awards in Australian television, the Logies, this month. It was named best comedy and its stars scooped  actor awards.

In a statement, Brammall and Dyer said: ‘We’re thrilled that Binge is finally giving in and letting us do another one. Turns out the Border Terrier community is extremely powerful.

‘Thank you to everybody around the world who has enjoyed the show, we can’t wait to bring you all a second season. Stay tuned for more shenanigans.’

Brammall and Dyer previously starred in No Activity, a comedy series about detectives on a stakeout. It is currently airing on Thursdays at 10pm on BBC Two and all episodes are available on iPlayer.
