Colin From Accounts gets a second series
Hit Australian romcom Colin from Accounts is returning for a second series.
Starring and created by real-life husband and wife Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer, the first series was a sleeper hit on iPlayer in the UK.
Now streaming service Binge, which commissioned the show down under, has confirmed a second season.
The news comes after the comedy swept the board at the biggest awards in Australian television, the Logies, where it was named best comedy and its stars scooping actor awards.
Series one charted the age-gap romance that developed after Dyer’s character Ashley flashes at Brammall’s Gordon in the street, causing him to run over a Border Terrier. They reluctantly team up to get the injured dog, who they name Colin From Accounts, to the vet.
In a statement, Brammall and Dyer said: ‘We’re thrilled that Binge is finally giving in and letting us do another one. Turns out the Border Terrier community is extremely powerful.
‘Thank you to everybody around the world who has enjoyed the show, we can’t wait to bring you all a second season. Stay tuned for more shenanigans.’
Series one ended with the couple getting back together after a breakup, during which they gave Colin to an unsuitable breeder… which they now regret and set off to get him back.
Alison Hurbert-Burns, commissioner for Binge, said: ‘We left season one unsure if Ashley and Gordon could get Colin back, so of course we need to see what’s next for these lovable characters that audiences in Australia, and the world have fallen in love with.’
