Into The Uncut Grass is 'an adventure for readers of all ages’

Trevor Noah has written an adventure book ‘for readers of all ages’.

Into The Uncut Grass – which will be published on November 2 – is described as ‘a tale of adventure and companionship that beautifully evokes the rewards of kindness, curiosity, and interdependence in a world of conflict’.

It is inspired by the comedian’s childhood ‘on fault lines of race, language, culture and class,’ the blurb says, adding that he nonetheless ‘found ways to love, connect to, and resolve conflicts with people of all kinds’.

The former Daily Show host said: ’Few memories in my life bring me more joy than the first few books I read as a child. Either with my mum or reading alone, those simple stories shaped so much of how I saw the world. I hope this story can bring a little bit of that same joy to readers of all ages.’

Noah previously wrote his memoirs, the New York Times bestseller Born a Crime: Stories From South African Childhood, which published in 2017. An edition suitable for young adults was released two years later.

The book sold 680,000 copies across all editions and is being adapted for the big screen, with Lupita Nyong’o attached to play Noah’s mother, Patricia.

The new book will be published by John Murray Press priced £20 for a hardback edition – fully illustrated by Christopher Myers  –  and as an audiobook and ebook.

In a statement, the publisher’s managing director  director Nick Davies, and  non-fiction publisher  Georgina Laycock sadi: ‘ Alongside his many thousands of fans, we have been impatiently awaiting Trevor Noah’s next project. We’re delighted to say that Into the Uncut Grass is well worth the wait: it’s as clever, moving and unexpected as Trevor himself. A must for every reader of Born a Crime, we think this book could also reach a whole new readership and inspire new generations.’

Noah left The Daily Show in December saying that after seven years he wanted to have other experiences, including more travelling and touring.

His Off The Record world tour lands in the UK three weeks after publication of Into The Uncut Grass, with one date in Glasgow’s Ovo Hydro on November 21, and three at London’s O2 Arena starting on  November 23.
