Alan Partridge writes a third memoir
Alan Partridge is publishing a third volume of memoirs, entitled Big Beacon.
The book will be about his TV comeback – as well as telling the story of ‘a selfless man, driven to restore an old lighthouse to its former glory’.
Blurb for the title – to be published in October – spells out that the lighthouse is a ‘quietly heroic old building that many take for granted, which some people think is a metaphor for Alan himself’.
It is the character’s third autobiography, following 2011's I, Partridge: We Need to Talk About Alan and 2016's Nomad – and again will be written by Steve Coogan, Neil Gibbons and Rob Gibbons.
The description goes on to immodestly add: ‘Leaving his old life behind and relocating to a small coastal village in Kent, Alan battles through adversity, wins the hearts and minds of a suspicious community, and ultimately shows himself to be a quite wonderful man.’
Meanwhile, his reversal of career fortunes to the heights of BBC One’s This Time is described as him ‘rising like a phoenix from the desolate wasteland of local radio to climb to the summit of Mount Primetime and regain the nationwide prominence his talent merits.’
News of the book’s release, first reported by the British Comedy Guide, follows the recommission of From The Oasthouse: The Alan Partridge Podcast by Audible
Big Beacon by Alan Partridge will be published by Orion imprint Seven Dials, priced £22 in hardback, £10.99 on Kindle and as an audiobook at £7.99
