Comedian Markus Birdman has appeared on Britain’s Got Talent - and scored 'yeses' from all four judges.

The 52-year-old spoke about the two strokes he has suffered, as well as sharing an anecdote about accidentally sitting on a blind naked man in hospital.

After the set, Simon Cowell said: 'I don't think anyone was expecting that...you were just brilliant. Jokes like this I absolutely love.

Bruno Tonioli gushed: 'You're not afraid to go there. Your delivery is absolutely spot on. Every gag you hit the jackpot.'

Alesha Dixon said: 'What I like about you is your style is quite dry. I thought every single joke was funny.'

And Amanda Holden added: 'I'm glad I'm wearing my big knickers tonight. Well done.'

Before his appearance, the comic said that in comparison to his strokes, going on Britain's Got Talent 'is not the scariest thing I’ve done.’

Stand-ups have had a good run on the ITV talent show in recent years, with three out of the last four winners being comics: Axel Blake, Jon Courtenay and Lost Voice Guy.

Birdman was nominated for a Chortle Award this year for his last Edinburgh show, The Bearable Heaviness of Nearly Not Being, about the second stroke he had last June, which cost him half his eyesight.

He now works with the NHS to promote their FAST campaign to teach people to spot the warning signs of strokes.

Speaking to the Mirror ahead of his BGT appearance, Birdman said: ‘If my comedy has a little bit of a message to it, I think it give it extra oomph.’

But his routines also revolve around his family life as the father of an 18-year-old daughter and he added: ‘I just want to put on a good show.’

Also appearing on Britain’s Got Talent tonight was musical comedian Bennet Kvanagh, who got buzzed by three of the judges - but impressed Cowell who said: 'You've made me laugh.'

And Mr Blobby, who performed a chaotic magic act, which resulted in Cowell getting slimed.
