Baftas for Lisa McGee and Adam Kay
Lisa McGee has won a Bafta for writing Derry Girls.
The show’s creator took the top comedy writing accolade for the first time at the Bafta Craft Awards honouring offscreen talents in London yesterday.
Her Channel 4 comedy is also up for best scripted comedy at the main Bafta Awards, which will be handed out on May 14. That ceremony, hosted by Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan, will air on BBC One.
This is Going to Hurt won in three categories last night, with Adam Kay winning his first Bafta for best drama writing for adapting his junior doctor memoirs for BBC One.
The show’s Selina MacArthur, also a first-time winner, took home the Bafta for editing fiction; and Nina Gold and Martin Ware won for scripted casting.
Charlie Melville won the emerging talent award for producing John & Joe Bishop: Life After Deaf at the ceremony, hosted by Mel Giedroyc.
