'Rishi Sunak' joins The Windsors

Amit Shah cast as the Prime Minister

Rishi Sunak will be featuring in The Windsors’ Coronation special, Channel 4 have announced.

Amit Shah – who plays Marcus in BBC comedy The Other One and Faisal Bhatti in Happy Valley – will be portraying the Prime Minister alongside Harry Enfield as the King.

He said: ‘I thought I was socially awkward until I had the chance of playing Rishi Sunak in The Windsors.

‘As well as making my hair turn grey (quite literally), I had the opportunity to work with one of my childhood heroes - Harry Enfield. We both had a laugh about the fact that he had prosthetic big ears fitted to look like King Charles and I was cast as Rishi because of my big ears.

‘This is the closest I’ll ever get to being a multi-millionaire with a heated pool in my back garden.’

Haydn Gwynne plays  Camilla in the comedy, with Hugh Skinner is Wills and Louise Ford as Kate. The cast also includes Richard Goulding (Harry), Kathryn Drysdale (Meghan), Morgana Robinson (Pippa Middleton), Ellie White (Beatrice), Celeste Dring (Eugenie), Vicki Pepperdine (Anne) and Matthew Cottle (Edward).

No broadcast date has yet been confirmed for the hour-long special, but it is expected to air close to the May 6 date of the actual Coronation.
