Alan Carr 'defects' to the BBC
Alan Carr is to present his first Saturday-night quiz show for the BBC, Picture Slam.
In the eight-part BBC One series, three teams will have to identify a board full of images, such as telling the Eiffel Tower from the Blackpool Tower or Buckingham Palace from Crystal Palace, against the clock.
Carr said: ‘Who doesn’t love a good quiz? When I found out the BBC wanted little old me to present Picture Slam I jumped at the chance! I don’t know if I would be any good at the quiz, but luckily I don’t have to play it.’
The comedian had been tipped to replace David Walliams as a judge on Britain's Got Talent – a role that actually went to Strictly’s Bruno Tonioli instead. His new role is being interpreted as him being ‘poached’ by the BBC following that apparent snub.
The comic has been hosting Alan Carr's Epic Gameshow for ITV on Saturday nights for the past three years, running to 25 episodes.
Kalpna Patel-Knight, head of entertainment for he BBC said of the. new show: ‘Picture Slam is a fast-paced Saturday night play-along quiz that requires contestants to be fast thinking and fast acting which results in loads of laugh out loud moments, making the quick-witted Alan Carr our perfect ringmaster.’
The show is being filmed at Pacific Quay in Glasgow, with producers riple Brew Media now seeking contestants. Applications are open until February 24 here.
Broadcast dates will be announced later.
